Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2: titanium, flashlight, and autonomy for those planning to survive

Amazfit continues to follow the line of 'armored' accessories by releasing the flagship T-Rex Ultra 2 smartwatch. It's a serious attempt to enter Garmin's territory, but with a somewhat more humane price tag. While $550 (24000 UAH) isn't small change, for this money they offer a set of features that look solid even on paper for those planning to get lost in the mountains, but want to do so with comfort.

Materials and a retina-burning screen

The device's body is a mix of reinforced polymer and Grade-5 titanium. The latter is used for the bezel and physical buttons, logically so, as these parts usually gather all the bumps and stones during active recreation. The screen here is AMOLED at 1.5 inches, and its brightness of 3000 nits is a claim that information will be clearly visible even under direct sunlight somewhere in the highlands. The display is protected by sapphire glass, which is much harder to scratch than regular mineral glass.

Navigation for professional travelers

For precise orientation away from civilization, Amazfit employs six satellite systems. The device supports downloading full-color offline maps and building routes up to 100 km in length. The built-in storage of 64 GB allows for storing not only cartography but also a considerable music library. This allows you to leave your smartphone at home during a workout or a short hike. The device weighs about 89 grams — noticeable, but for the protected segment, it's an adequate price for durability.

Endurance in numbers

A massive 870 mAh battery is responsible for the operation. In standard mode, the watch will last up to 30 days — an excellent indicator for those who forget where their charging cable is. With GPS constantly on, autonomy drops to 50 hours, which is still enough for most ultramarathons. The electronics are designed to function uninterruptedly at temperatures as low as -30 °C. The watch also has dual certification for diving and withstands water pressure up to 10 ATM.

Little things that save lives

The T-Rex Ultra 2 arsenal includes survival tools. The case integrates an LED flashlight, which supports green light to preserve night vision and an SOS signaling function. For everyday use, Bluetooth calls via built-in microphone and speaker, as well as an NFC module for contactless payment, are provided. Detailed specifications are already available on the manufacturer's website, which confirms the brand's readiness to compete in the premium segment.
