The first YouTube video received an exposition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London
This week YouTube turned 21, and in honor of this event, the very first video on the platform was immortalized at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
What is known
The museum staff meticulously recreated the interface and design details of YouTube from 20 years ago, stating that this process took 1.5 years and required the help of Google specialists. Moreover, they even managed to restore the original code of that page and authentic advertising banners from that period.
The authors of the installation wanted to emphasize the importance of the funny video “Me at the zoo” by YouTube founder Jawed Karim, as it became not only the first but also marked the transition from text-based internet pages to full-fledged multimedia content.
And for those who want more nostalgia, let's remind that the developers of Opera launched the interactive Web Rewind archive, showcasing the step-by-step development of the World Wide Web over 30 years.
