Apple may make red the key color for the next iPhone Pro. This was reported by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. Although the announcement of the iPhone 18 lineup is expected later this year, according to him, red is currently the main candidate for the new premium shade.

What is known

Earlier rumors suggested purple and brown options, but Gurman assumes these may just be different shades of base red. Such a move would be a departure from Apple’s restrained palette. At the same time, the company is likely trying to build on the success of the bright Cosmic Orange, which positively impacted sales in China. Among fans, this color even received the unofficial name Hermès orange and became a kind of status symbol in the Chinese market.

Red could further strengthen Apple's position in China, as this color is associated there with success and prosperity. At the same time, this is not the company's first experience with such a shade: Apple previously released models in collaboration with Product Red — specifically the iPhone SE, iPhone 14, and 14 Plus.

Meanwhile, the foldable iPhone, according to Gurman, will feature more restrained, basic colors.
