No Akira Yamaoka Music in Silent Hill: Townfall, But He Is Collaborating with Bloober Team on the Remake of the Series' First Game
It's impossible to imagine Silent Hill without the atmospheric soundtracks of Akira Yamaoka. The music of the famous Japanese composer is present in almost all parts of the series and is essentially an integral part of the overall narrative, framing the main events of the game, adding horror, and highlighting the hopelessness of the protagonists.
In mid-February, a full presentation of the new game Silent Hill: Townfall took place, but then the developers did not reveal whether Yamaoka is involved in creating its musical accompaniment. And now we know the answer to this question.
What is Known
Reddit user named TheAnthony247 claimed that he met Akira Yamaoka after his concert in San Diego and was able to ask him a few questions.
TheAnthony247 and Akira Yamaoka
According to TheAnthony247, the Japanese musician is happy to return to every Silent Hill project where he is invited, but unfortunately, his music will not be in Townfall.
However, the maestro will re-record the soundtrack for the first part of Silent Hill, the remake of which is being worked on by the Polish studio Bloober Team. Recall, they have previously successfully collaborated on the Silent Hill 2 Remake and The Medium. Rumor has it that Bloober Team is also working on a remake of Silent Hill 3, as well as an entirely new part of the series, so most likely Akira Yamaoka's melodies will also be featured in these games.
Silent Hill: Townfall will be released in 2026 on PC and PS5 and will be the first big game of the franchise with a first-person view.
