Back in February, the insider Ice Universe said that Samsung's new smartwatch would switch to Wear OS. Now this information is confirmed by Korean sources.

What to expect

Samsung is anticipated to unveil two models this summer, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4, both of which will run Wear OS instead of Tizen. Samsung's Tizen platform has evolved into a great alternative to Google's Wear operating system, but it's easier to develop apps for Wear OS, which is why Samsung is returning to it. Google obviously sees this as an opportunity to renew interest in the platform.

There were also rumors that the watch will receive the function of non-invasive monitoring of blood glucose levels, but now they have been denied. Perhaps the feature needs some work before it is officially presented.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 will be available in 42mm and 46mm versions, while Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 will be offered in 40mm and 42mm versions. Most likely, they will be presented in August or July along with the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy S21 FE smartphones.
