The British company Evoluto is completing preparations for the production of a restomod based on the Ferrari F355. The model, called 355 by Evoluto, will go into production next month. The manufacturer claims that it has confirmed all the technical specifications promised at the first presentation of the project in 2024.

What is known

The car will receive a modified 3.5-liter V8 from the original F355. In the standard version of Evoluto, this engine develops 420 hp at 8,000 rpm and 370 Nm of torque. The maximum revs are increased to 8,500 rpm. For comparison, in 1994, the original F355 produced 375 hp and 363 Nm.

Engineers reduced the inertia of the internal components, installed new camshafts, improved the cylinder head, and developed a stainless steel exhaust system.

An optional version with an increased displacement to 3.7 liters will be offered. This engine develops 480 hp at 9,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque. It is equipped with camshafts with increased valve lift, an upgraded fuel delivery system, and reinforced internal elements designed for prolonged high-rev operation.

The chassis has also been extensively redesigned. The track has been widened by 77 mm at the front and 66 mm at the rear. The suspension has new control arms, knuckles, and stabilizers. The geometry has been revised to accommodate modern tires for improved steering feedback.

Evoluto collaborated with R53 Suspension in the development of three-mode adjustable shock absorbers. The steering rack has been shortened while retaining hydraulic assistance. The number of turns lock-to-lock has been reduced from 3.25 to 2. Brembo brakes of increased size have been installed.

The declared dry weight is 1,250 kg, which is about 100 kg less than the serial F355 of the 1990s.

The interior uses carbon fiber and milled metal. Analog instruments and physical switches have been retained. The climate system has been upgraded. About 90% of the wiring has been reworked to improve reliability.

The final prototype has passed more than 5,000 miles (8,000 km) of track tests and 10,000 miles (16,000 km) of engine tests. The final stage of endurance testing for 20,000 miles (32,000 km) should be completed in April.

Only 55 cars are planned to be produced. The base price starts at around £595,000 (approximately $800,000). The first deliveries are scheduled for the fourth quarter. The cost of the project is roughly twice that of a new Ferrari 296 GTB and exceeds the price of a new 849 Testarossa.
