BMW X5 Legacy Edition concludes the G05 era
After eight years on the market, the BMW X5 of the G05 generation is preparing to end production. Before assembly finally stops in the coming months, the company unveiled a farewell version.
The X5 Legacy Edition is only available in Romania and features an exclusive body color and an extended list of standard equipment. The version is based on the xDrive30d. The crossover is painted in Individual Maldives Blue II Metallic (code A15). Standard equipment includes M Sport package, illuminated grille, and 21-inch two-tone 915 M wheels. In addition, the package includes Innovation and Comfort packages, Driving Assistant Professional system, and adaptive headlights.
For the car's presentation, BMW Romania organized a photoshoot on the Transbucegi mountain road — the third highest in the country. Each image is made up of 70 separate frames with different exposures, and up to 50 manually edited layers were used in post-processing.
Orders for the Legacy Edition are accepted only until the end of March. Prices in Romania start at 68,900 euros. Several leasing programs are also available. It is expected that this version will be one of the last produced at the BMW Spartanburg plant, where G05 production is expected to end in July.
The next generation X5 with index G65 is rumored to hit the assembly line in August. The first to appear should be the 40 xDrive and 40d xDrive versions. In December, they are expected to be joined by the rear-wheel-drive 40, plug-in hybrid 50e xDrive, M Performance version M60e xDrive, and fully electric iX5 60 xDrive.
In 2027, the lineup may be supplemented by the M60 xDrive version with a V8 and two additional electric modifications — iX5 50 xDrive and iX5 M70 xDrive. In 2028, the flagship of the family should be the X5 M with a more powerful V8, and the debut of the fully electric X5 M is also expected.
