The GAC Honda joint venture announced a temporary promotion: the price of the plug-in hybrid version of the Accord is reduced to 138,800 yuan ($20,280). This is one of the largest official price reductions for joint venture sedans in China at the beginning of 2026.

What's known

The special offer is valid from February and applies to existing customers repurchasing the model. According to the company and dealers, the promotion is limited to 1,000 cars.

The discount is 100,000 yuan ($14,610) compared to the recommended retail price of 238,800 yuan ($34,890). Thus, the manufacturer wants to attract the attention of buyers amid declining sales.

According to GAC Group, GAC Honda sold 4,558 vehicles last month, which is a 69.86% decrease compared to January last year. For 2025, sales amounted to 351,900 units, down 25.22% year-on-year. For comparison, the electric brand within the group — GAC Aion — sold 21,600 cars in January, an increase of 171.63% year-on-year.

Price adjustments also affected other Japanese joint ventures in China. GAC Toyota offered temporary discounts of up to 22,000 yuan ($3,210) on the Wildlander crossover, as well as additional bonuses under the trade-in program. Dongfeng Nissan announced discounts of up to 21,000 yuan ($3,070) on the updated Teana sedan and up to 10,000 yuan ($1,460) on the compact Sylphy as part of promotional campaigns.

GAC Honda stated that the promotion is timed to the 50th anniversary of the Accord model. Information on further production plans after the allocation is not disclosed.
