Apple has introduced the MacBook Air M5 — the next generation of its most popular laptop, featuring significant performance gains, increased base memory, and improved wireless technology support. The model retains a thin aluminum body but has become noticeably more powerful and better prepared for tasks related to artificial intelligence.
What is known
The MacBook Air is equipped with the new M5 processor, which provides up to 4 times higher performance in AI tasks than the M4, and up to 9.5 times higher than the M1. This makes the laptop a full-fledged platform for Apple Intelligence and local AI model execution. The chip received faster unified memory with a bandwidth of 153 GB/s, which is 28% higher than the M4.
The basic configuration now includes 512 GB SSD, which is twice as much as the previous generation. Options up to 4 TB are available. The SSD has become faster, and the amount of RAM can be chosen from 16, 24, or 32 GB.
The laptop received a new Apple N1 modem with support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, ensuring high-speed and stable connectivity.
MacBook Air M5 is available in versions of 13.6" and 15.3" with Liquid Retina (LCD) display, 500 nits brightness, and support for 1 billion colors.
The laptop has a 12 MP webcam with Center Stage and Desk View features for convenient video calls and presentations.
The stated battery life reaches 18 hours, maintaining Air's traditional focus on mobility.
Sales start on March 11, and pre-orders are already open in the official store. Both options are available in Sky Blue, Midnight, Starlight, and Silver colors.
The price for the 13” laptop starts at $1100, and the 15” at $1300, increasing by $100 compared to the 2025 models.
