Today at the opening of the Google I / O developer conference, they unveiled an updated platform for Google Wear OS wearable devices.

What has changed

First of all, Google has joined forces with Samsung to create a new Wear OS. And yes, Samsung is indeed abandoning its proprietary Tizen platform, so the manufacturer's future smartwatches will run the Wear OS. As Google representatives assure, it will combine "the best of Wear OS and Tizen."

Google promises that with the new OS, apps will launch 30% faster, with smoother UI animations. To maximize battery life, the lower tiers of the OS are optimized to use low-power hardware cores.

Also, third-party manufacturers will finally be able to add a custom user interface to Wear OS. For example, Samsung watches will receive a proprietary One UI shell on top of Wear OS.

In addition, there will be access to Googe Play to download applications directly from the watch. YouTube Music is coming to Wear OS "later this year," with features such as smart uploads, allowing subscribers to enjoy music on the go.

We also added a quick action function - for example, just double-tap the screen to switch from one application to another, switch the track, etc. There will be a piece of Fitbit in the new platform. For example, Wear OS will be able to track a user's progress throughout the day. By the way, Fitbit will also use the new OS in its gadgets.
