Slay the Spire 2 Crushes Competition: Over 3 Million Sales in Just One Week!
A week has passed since the early access release of Slay the Spire 2 — the sequel to the hardcore card roguelike from 2019 by Mega Crit. The game launched the same day as the ambitious extraction shooter Marathon from the creators of Halo and Destiny, but easily outperformed it in sales and public attention, with Slay the Spire 2's peak online reaching almost 600,000 people on Steam, whereas Bungie's mega-expensive project had only 88,000.
And these are just the achievements of Slay the Spire 2, as the developers have reported several other significant metrics.
What is known
On Steam's blog, Mega Crit expressed their joy that the early version sales of Slay the Spire 2 surpassed 3 million copies. In seven days, players managed to start 25 million playthroughs, but this figure is incomplete as the counter began working only at the game's release.
Of course, the authors have huge plans for the development of Slay the Spire 2. In the near future, they plan to add alternative development paths for the second and third acts, expand the variety of cards, implement new events, and overall, enrich the game with new content.
Streamers will be particularly interested in the plan to integrate Twitch, allowing viewers to influence the course of the game through voting — in other titles, such a system performs excellently and adds fresh emotions to each broadcast.
Developers have opened access to the beta version of Slay the Spire 2 on Steam, enabling everyone to test the innovations before they are directly implemented in the game.
