Samsung may be preparing a new format of foldable smartphone with a wider display. According to insider Digital Chat Station, the upcoming device will feature a large internal screen and a flagship processor.

What is known

According to the leak, the smartphone will have a 7.6-inch main display in unfolded condition. Its size will be close to the screen of the flagship Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 model, although the format may differ. The device is expected to become shorter and wider, with an aspect ratio of approximately 4:3, making it resemble a small tablet.

According to the source, the novelty will run on the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This is the same chip that is rumored to be used in Samsung's future foldable models Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Another feature will be a battery with a dual construction. The total typical battery capacity may be around 4800 mAh. It will consist of two elements – approximately 2267 mAh and 2393 mAh. Such a system is often used in foldable smartphones because it allows the batteries to be placed in both halves of the case.

It is also reported that the new smartphone is planned to be released at least in the company's local market. Meanwhile, Apple and Samsung may lead the global segment of wide-format foldable smartphones, while Chinese manufacturers, particularly Huawei, will be more actively competing in the domestic Chinese market.
