While journalists, critics, and gamers around the world discuss the phenomenal success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which became the most awarded game in industry history, the Japanese expressed their own vision of beauty, which may surprise the general public.

This weekend, the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2025 took place, where the best games of 2025 according to Japanese players were announced. Surprisingly, there was not a single award for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33! In the overall list for the title of "Game of the Year," it took the fourteenth place, losing out to titles many of which went unnoticed by Western gamers.

According to the Japanese, the best game of 2025 is Silent Hill f by Konami, which surpassed Elden Ring Nightreign, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Monster Hunter Wilds. The developers of Silent Hill f tried to combine traditional slow horror with souls-like elements, and to the European or American gamer, the result seemed doubtful, but the Japanese are delighted with the game.

The most anticipated game of 2026 is called the experimental action The Duskbloods from FromSoftware, which will be an exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2.
