Spotify's New Exclusive Mode on Windows: Experience Pure Audio Playback Without Interference

Spotify has introduced a new mode for music playback in Windows. It concerns the Exclusive Mode feature, which gives the app full control over audio processing on the computer.

What is known

The company explains that without this mode, the operating system may alter sound before sending it to the audio device. This includes resampling the signal, mixing with other system sounds, or changing the volume level. It affects playback accuracy.

Upon activating Exclusive Mode, external sounds are muted, and the signal is sent directly to a digital-to-analog converter (DAC). This approach allows tracks to be played without additional processing by the system.

Currently, Exclusive Mode is only available on Windows. Spotify notes that macOS support will appear in a future update.

To enable the mode, you need to open the app settings, go to the Playback section, and activate the Exclusive Mode option in the Output block.
