Google reported that the Search Live feature hasn't received a global launch yet, despite previous announcements. In response to Engadget's inquiry, developers emphasized that the feature is only available to users in the USA and India, while testing is underway in other regions.

What is known

Earlier it was reported that Search Live would become available in over 200 countries. However, Google acknowledged this as a communication error and apologized for the inaccurate information. Thus, the full global release of the feature has been postponed.

Search Live is an AI-based tool that allows interaction with search in real time through a smartphone camera. The user can point the camera at an object or scene and ask questions, receiving answers directly in the interface. The feature was first introduced at the Google I/O 2025 conference and was subsequently gradually rolled out to users.

The company also updated the technological basis of the service — it now operates on the Gemini 3.1 Flash model. According to Google, this ensures faster performance, more stable interaction, and natural dialogue. Additionally, the model supports multilingualism.

Currently, Search Live is available through the Google app on Android and iOS, and it's integrated into Google Lens. Despite the absence of a global launch, the company hints that expanding accessibility might occur soon after the completion of testing.
