Exactly 30 years ago — on March 22, 1996 — the world of video games changed forever: the first part of the Resident Evil series was released. At the time, no one suspected, but this game rekindled interest in the zombie theme in mass culture and gave it a new interpretation.

In honor of the anniversary, Capcom released a message from Resident Evil executive producer Jun Takeuchi, thanking gamers for 30 years of interest and support and promising that the adventures are not over.

Today Resident Evil celebrates its 30th anniversary.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who have accompanied and supported us since the release of our first game on March 22, 1996.

Last month, we released Resident Evil Requiem. Returning to Raccoon City — the place where it all began — we combined two key elements of the series, horror and action, into a single title. And now Requiem has reached over six million players worldwide. Thank you all very much.

Our team will continue to work hard to bring you even more great experiences in the future — and it will be an honor for us if you continue on this journey with us.

Once again, thank you very much for your support.

In turn, gamers will be happy to see new parts of their favorite franchise.

Let us remind you that according to rumors, the tenth numbered part of Resident Evil might come out in just three years, and until then, two remakes are expected to be released — Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica, and there were also reports about the start of production of an updated version of the first part of the series.
