Capcom is adding VR modes to all modern games of the Resident Evil franchise, but the new part Requiem was released very recently and has not yet received it. However, enthusiasts outpaced the developer and have already released the first working VR-mod.

What is known

On the NexusMods platform, anyone can install RE9VR to enjoy the horrors of Dr. Gideon's asylum and the ruins of Raccoon City with a full presence effect.

The modification is compatible with OpenVR (SteamVR) and OpenXR, but not all game content is available yet. The developers warn that they have not yet managed to adapt puzzles and some other elements of Resident Evil Requiem, so sometimes glasses will still have to be removed.

The mod authors have compiled instructions for its correct installation, and those who are already familiar with the "VR version" of Resident Evil Requiem note that the game works well and becomes even scarier. The author of PC Gamer used the standard first-person mode in episodes for Grace and third-person for Leon Kennedy and reported that he did not encounter technical problems and got a lot of thrills.

Resident Evil Requiem is available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2, but the VR mod can only be installed on PC.
