Anthropic announced updates to their AI tools Claude Code and Claude Cowork, which are now capable of performing tasks on the user's computer. New features include opening files, working with the browser, and launching developer tools.

What's Known

When the feature is activated, the Claude chatbot will first attempt to use connections to supported services such as Google Workspace or Slack. If the connection is unavailable, the AI will still be able to complete the assigned task. Before any actions, Claude will ask for user permission. Anthropic emphasizes caution and recommends not using this feature to handle confidential information.

The current use of the computer will be available only for subscribers of Claude Pro and Claude Max on macOS. The innovation is also compatible with the Dispatch function, which allows for continuous conversation with the chatbot on the phone and computer.

The Claude Cowork tool, introduced in January, is a simplified version of Claude Code for programmers, aimed at a wide audience of users looking for AI assistance without complex setup.
