In 2026, the iconic The Legend of Zelda franchise will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Of course, Nintendo cannot ignore such a beautiful date and not offer gamers something special.

Insider Nate The Hate revealed what Nintendo is preparing, and this decision will certainly please fans of Link, Princess Zelda, and the ever-beautiful kingdom of Hyrule.

What is known

According to Nate The Hate, later confirmed by VGC, in the fall of 2026, Nintendo will release a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as a flagship novelty — the famous 1998 game, which is not only considered one of the best parts of the franchise but also remains the highest-rated game in Metacritic's history.

Thus, the Japanese company plans to ensure high sales of the Switch 2 during the holiday season and increase interest in The Legend of Zelda.

In addition, in 2026, a new part of the once-famous series — Star Fox — may be released. This is supported by the fact that its main character, after many years of oblivion, will appear in the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which will premiere on April 1. The game presentation may take place at the Nintendo Direct show, but its next release is expected only in June.

And in 2027, Nintendo's flagship game will become a new flagship 3D platformer in the Super Mario lineup — the first since the release of Super Mario Odyssey (2017).
