According to journalists, after several years Apple has finally overcome most of the obstacles to the release of AI versions of Siri, and a full launch is scheduled for 2026. To achieve this, Apple has entered into a contract with Google to gain access to the Gemini language model and use it to train its own assistant.

The American corporation has big plans for Siri, and the authoritative insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman (Mark Gurman) shared some of them.

What's known

Gurman learned that in iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, which will be presented in June at WWDC 2026, a full-fledged “smart Siri” app will appear. It will allow both text and voice queries, and a special interface will provide the ability to view the history of dialogues with the AI assistant, as implemented in most similar applications, for example, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.

The main feature of the Siri app will be the “Extensions” function. It will allow the integration of third-party chatbots and AI agents from apps installed on the device. These will be downloaded from a specially created section in the App Store, which is planned to be turned into a kind of marketplace for AI integrations.

It is expected that developers will get access to the first beta version of iOS 27 in June, and a public release will take place in September.

Mark Gurman mentioned that Siri will receive an updated design utilizing Dynamic Island, as well as new system buttons Ask Siri and Write with Siri.

Most likely, intelligent Siri will be available only on devices supported by Apple Intelligence.
