Xbox Games Showcase 2026 Unveils Gears of War: E-Day Prequel with Stunning Gameplay

Microsoft has revealed the date of the annual summer Xbox Games Showcase, which usually lasts over an hour and is intensely packed.

This year, the event will kick off on June 7 at 19:00 (CEST) on the Xbox YouTube and Twitch channels. As always, there will be the first gameplay footage and details of the most anticipated new releases, as well as announcements of blockbusters and ambitious indie games from both Xbox internal studios and third-party developers.

Immediately after the Xbox Games Showcase, the traditional Direct will start, which this year will be dedicated to the shooter Gears of War: E-Day — a prequel to the very first part of the series.

The game will tell about the initial days of the Locust invasion — when 25% of the planet's population was destroyed in just 26 hours, and the event impacted human life so much that it started a new calendar system. An important theme of Gears of War: E-Day will be the formation of the friendship between Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago.

The game is being developed by The Coalition in collaboration with Poles from People Can Fly — the creators of Painkiller and Bulletstorm.

The release of Gears of War: E-Day is expected in the second half of 2026 on PC and Xbox Series (possibly on PS5 as well).
