Samsung Unveils Hearapy App: Say Goodbye to Motion Sickness with Sound Therapy!

Samsung announced a new mobile app Hearapy that helps reduce symptoms of motion sickness during travel. The development is already available for download and is primarily aimed at users of wireless headphones.

What is known

The main feature of Hearapy is the use of sound therapy. The app plays a pure sinusoidal signal with a frequency of 100 Hz and a volume of 85 dB, which affects the vestibular apparatus of the inner ear. According to the company, it is enough to listen to this sound for about one minute before traveling to reduce the likelihood of motion sickness for up to two hours.

The technology is based on scientific research, particularly experiments by scientists from Nagoya University in Japan. They found that certain low-frequency sounds can temporarily improve balance and reduce sensory conflict — the main cause of motion sickness.

Hearapy is positioned as an alternative to medications: the app does not require taking pills and does not cause side effects. At the same time, the developers recommend using it with headphones capable of reproducing low frequencies (about 100 Hz), such as the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, although it works with other models.

It is estimated that up to a third of people suffer from motion sickness, especially during car, plane, or ship travel. Samsung hopes that Hearapy will become a simple and accessible solution to this common problem.

The app has already appeared in Google Play and is available for free.
