The Japanese watch giant Casio has introduced a new model of its legendary Pro Trek hiking series — PRW-B1000B-2.

Yosemite-inspired design

The main visual feature is a massive case and blue-gray steel bezel with Ion Plating (IP) whose sharp edges and straight lines mimic the sheer cliffs of the famous national park.

The PRW-B1000B-2 model comes with a robust CORDURA re/cor nylon strap — this is not only a tribute to reliability but also an ecological concern: the material is made from recycled fibers and has phenomenal wear resistance.

Technical superiority

PRW-B1000B2 is the first series in the Pro Trek lineup that combines Casio's three key technologies for maximum autonomy and accuracy:

  • Smartphone Link (Bluetooth): The watch syncs with the CASIO WATCHES app. This allows you to carry a Route Log, use the Location Indicator function (the watch arrow points to a saved point on the map), and automatically correct the time;
  • Tough Solar: Power from any light source, eliminating the need to replace batteries — an extra hassle in hiking;
  • Multi Band 6: Reception of accurate time radio signals from six stations worldwide.

Triple Sensor functionality

The watch features a third-generation sensor that supports a digital compass (with automatic horizontal correction), altimeter/barometer (with pressure trend graph, crucial for predicting mountain storms), and thermometer.

The dial has a multi-layered design. Large hands and 3D indexes enhance readability. A small hand at the “9 o'clock” mark resembles a climbing hook, reminiscent of the climbing gear of the 1970s. Large metal buttons and a crown make it easy to operate the watch while wearing gloves.

Reliability and ecology

Casio continues to follow a path of sustainable development. The case and back cover are made of flame-retardant bioplastic and comply with the UL94 V-0 standard. This means it will stop burning after the flame source is removed.

Key Features

The new Pro Trek model features sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating, water resistance up to 100 meters (10 bar), frost resistance down to -10°C, and a Screw Lock Crown.

Price and availability

The PRW-B1000B-2 model is already on sale in Japan at a price of $550 (converted from yen). Its appearance on the global site indicates an imminent international release.
