Revolutionary Slide-Out Screen for MacBooks: Meet the SpectraSlideOut!

If you ever dreamed of a second screen that doesn't need to be taken out of the bag and separately connected with cables, then the startup Vertex Innovation is preparing something interesting for you. On the Indiegogo platform, SpectraSlideOut is presented — an additional display with a unique mounting mechanism, designed specifically for MacBook.

What's the feature?

Unlike standard portable monitors that are placed next to or attached with magnets to the cover, SpectraSlideOut is a kind of "exoskeleton" or a hard case for the laptop: the additional panel literally hides behind the main screen of the laptop and slides out to the side when needed.
The device fits tightly to the body and gets power directly from the MacBook battery, not requiring external adapters or bulky cables.

Despite having a second screen, the design remains compact enough for the laptop to still fit into a standard backpack.

Compatibility and materials

The developers decided not to spread themselves thin and focused on a perfect fit for specific models. At launch, SpectraSlideOut will be available for:

  • MacBook Pro (14 and 16”) based on M4 chips;
  • MacBook Air (13 and 15”) of the latest generations (M2/M3).

Users will be able to choose between two body versions: practical ABS plastic or premium anodized aluminum, which perfectly matches the texture and color of the Apple body.

When to expect

The official launch of the campaign on Indiegogo is scheduled for April 28, 2026. The exact price is still kept secret, but it is expected that the first buyers will be able to get the device at a significantly lower price than it will be at retail.
