Italian TV Channel La7 Blocks NVIDIA's DLSS 5 Trailer, Claims Copyright in Bizarre Move
In March, NVIDIA unveiled the DLSS 5 scaling technology, which, according to the company, will be "the greatest breakthrough in PC gaming since the introduction of ray tracing in 2018."
Despite NVIDIA's optimism, the novelty was harshly criticized by gamers, developers, and bloggers because it does not improve the finished image, but changes it according to its own "sense of beauty."
The story of the DLSS 5 presentation took an unexpected and slightly crazy turn
Italian TV channel La7 demanded that YouTube block the DLSS 5 trailer on NVIDIA's official channel, as well as all videos that use its fragments.
What does La7 have to do with NVIDIA's new technology? — directly none, but the channel pulled off a clever manipulation by showing the DLSS 5 trailer live, after which it proclaimed this content its own and on this basis struck NVIDIA, and YouTube was formally obliged to satisfy the complaint of the Italian "rights holders" and blocked the video for NVIDIA.
Most likely, the situation will be resolved soon, and the scandalous video will return to NVIDIA's channel, but La7 managed to create a unique precedent.
