Anthropic has announced the launch of the Project Glasswing initiative aimed at countering cyberattacks through artificial intelligence. The project involves collaboration with a number of technological and financial giants, including Amazon, Apple, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and others.

What is Known

As part of the initiative, partners will gain access to the Claude Mythos Preview model — a yet-to-be-publicly-presented universal artificial intelligence system. According to Anthropic, this model has already identified thousands of potential vulnerabilities, including in popular operating systems and browsers. It is intended to be used to enhance cybersecurity and prevent malicious use of AI.

Project Glasswing aims to protect critical software from new types of attacks that may arise due to the development of artificial intelligence. The company emphasizes that the project is specifically oriented towards the defensive application of technologies.

Anthropic, led by Dario Amodei, has previously and repeatedly raised issues of security and ethics in the AI field. Meanwhile, the company has already faced criticism; reports have mentioned the use of its Claude model during hacker attacks on government institutions in Mexico.

The launch of Project Glasswing comes amid growing concerns about cyber risks associated with the development of artificial intelligence and attempts by large companies to strengthen the protection of their systems.
