Pragmata Shines: Capcom's Bold Sci-Fi Game Wows Critics with Innovative Mechanics and Stunning Optimization
Virtually all games from the Japanese publisher Capcom receive top scores from critics and are loved by the public. In a couple of days, the release of the sci-fi action game Pragmata will take place, which was announced back in 2020, after which its development was significantly delayed.
There were serious concerns that this new Capcom release would be a failure, but the first reviews from critics dispel all doubts: Pragmata is an excellent game!
What the aggregators say
Critics are impressed with Pragmata and give it high scores — 86-89 points on Metacritic depending on the platform and 87 points on OpenCritic with 95% recommendations. We invite you to check out our reviewer's opinion in a detailed review.
The developers took into account the release experiences of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds and paid enormous attention to optimization, making the game look great and run smoothly on all platforms, with no freezes, bugs, or other issues.
Reviewers also liked Pragmata's main feature — hacking aggressive robots in real time using the abilities of the android girl Diana. It turned out that this mechanic, in the form of a small puzzle, is much more interesting and convenient than it appears in trailers, adding depth to the gameplay.
There are no complaints about the design of locations, enemies, and the overall visual execution of the lunar station; everything looks futuristic, beautiful, and atmospheric. However, many critics called the main character, engineer Hugh, expressionless and dull. Moreover, the overall plot of Pragmata is quite predictable and not among the game's strengths, although the relationship between Hugh and Diana undoubtedly adds liveliness to the narrative.
Overall, critics note that Capcom did not follow modern trends but offered something new and experimental, which already deserves respect in an era of endless repetitions.
When to expect
The release of Pragmata will take place on April 17 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. A demo version is available for gamers.
