Gothic Trilogy Finally Comes to Consoles: First Game Launches on PlayStation and Xbox This July
Publisher THQ Nordic has revealed when gamers will first be able to play the original Gothic trilogy on consoles.
Recall, the legendary series of classic RPGs was only available on PC, and the disastrous fourth installment (Arcania), although available on consoles, turned out to be such a terrible game that developers had to remove all its links to Gothic, so it's not considered part of the franchise.
What is known
THQ Nordic has decided not to release all parts of the Gothic Trilogy on the same day but proposes the following schedule:
- Gothic — July 28 on PlayStation and Xbox (both generations);
- Gothic 2 — September 29 on PlayStation and Xbox (both generations);
- Gothic 3 — November 24 on PS5 and Xbox Series.
The games are sold separately and cost €29.99 each.
The developers do not claim the console editions are remasters, but they adapt the games for modern systems, add high-resolution support, implement convenient controls, and carry over all the trilogy content.
On June 5, a remake of Gothic 1 will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, and those who pre-order it will receive the console version of the original first Gothic free.
