Resident Evil's New Film Stuns CinemaCon with Intense Horror and Brutal Zombie Scenes
In September, the premiere of another film from the cult Resident Evil franchise by Sony Pictures will take place. No trailer has been shown to the general public yet, but attendees of CinemaCon in Las Vegas had the opportunity to see exclusive footage, and according to media reports, they were greatly impressed by what they saw.
What is known
Previously, the director of the new Resident Evil movie, Zach Cregger — the creator of the highly acclaimed horror film Barbarian — stated that he is not aiming to replicate the atmosphere of any Resident Evil game, but instead wants to offer a new perspective on the series with a greater number of horror elements.
Judging by the audience's reaction, he succeeded in this, as journalists from Variety report, the first trailer was filled with brutal scenes that scared many viewers.
Variety also provided a brief description of the video: the focus is on a character named Brian played by Austin Abrams. He is near a house in a snowy field and frantically trying to find a phone. The young man contacts his girlfriend and says that this might be his last call.
Following this, the audience was shown various types of zombies, including a bloated walking dead in the sewer, and in the most intense action scene, a horde of zombies chases Brian across rooftops, many of which fall from buildings and crash into the ground.
The premiere of the Resident Evil adaptation will take place in theaters on September 18, 2026.
