Adobe has introduced a new artificial intelligence-based tool — Firefly AI Assistant, which integrates directly into several key ecosystem products, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Lightroom, and Adobe Illustrator. The innovation allows users to work on creative tasks through text queries.

What's Known

Firefly AI Assistant is focused on simplifying complex processes in professional programs. Instead of independently building a multi-step workflow, the user can simply describe the desired outcome — the system will automatically perform the necessary actions. The company notes that the complexity of tools like Photoshop often becomes a barrier for beginners, and the new assistant is designed to change that.

By working principle, Firefly AI Assistant resembles modern AI services like ChatGPT or solutions from Google, but its main feature is deep integration with Adobe's professional tools. The assistant can launch complex editing scenarios, combining the functions of different programs within a single request.

Special attention is paid to user control: despite automation, the user remains in the process and can intervene at any time to adjust the result or change the work direction. Importantly, all projects are saved in native Adobe formats, allowing them to be fully edited after generation is complete.

The capabilities include launching so-called Creative Skills, which allow creating complex multi-step scenarios with a single request. For example, you can automatically prepare content for social media with adaptation to different formats. The assistant can also make contextual decisions — for example, changing elements of a scene in an image with simple settings.

The tool integrates with the Frame.io platform for team collaboration, allowing feedback collection and project management within a unified environment.

Firefly AI Assistant is currently being prepared for a public beta release, expected in the coming weeks.
