The Blood of Dawnwalker: CD Projekt Veterans' Vampire RPG Nears 2026 Release with High Hopes
Many fans of fantasy action RPGs eagerly await the release of The Blood of Dawnwalker — an ambitious game by the Polish studio Rebel Wolves, founded by veterans of CD Projekt who made a name for themselves developing The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
In recent demonstrations, the authors promised to release the Carpathian vampire drama in 2026 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, and it seems they will keep their word.
What is known
In an interview with The Game Business, game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz expressed confidence in the release of The Blood of Dawnwalker by the end of the year. According to him, the game is almost ready, and it only needs to pass certification on different platforms, a process that can either go quite quickly or drag on. But overall, the team does not expect significant delays.
Tomaszkiewicz also emphasized that he does not fear competition with other action RPGs or with the new releases of 2026 in other genres. He doesn't plan to create a company of CD Projekt's scale; Konrad and his colleagues want to enjoy their work and have gamers highly value their games.
I want to sell enough copies of The Blood of the Dawnwalker to ensure the production of the next two games and create something unique. I have no plans to create a giant corporation releasing five games simultaneously and become a behemoth. I want to remain with a small studio and enjoy making games, as I do now.
Journalists from The Game Business reminded that The Blood of Dawnwalker demonstrations receive excellent feedback, and according to analysts, about a million Steam users have added the game to their wishlist.
For those unaware
The plot of The Blood of Dawnwalker revolves around a clan of ancient Carpathian vampires. In the 14th century, Europe was ravaged by the plague, but vampires are immune to this disease and can even save mortals, but the consequence will be not just the expansion of vampire power, but also the partial transformation of humans into bloodsuckers.
The main character of the game, a peasant named Kohen, is forced to ask for help from vampires, becoming partially one of them. He now struggles between his humanity and new vampiric nature, and only the player's actions will determine which way the balance tips.
Developers promise great variability and non-linearity in the plot, fascinating side quests impacting all game events, and deep relationships between characters.
This upcoming summer, Rebel Wolves promises to hold several large presentations of The Blood of Dawnwalker.
