Intel Unveils Sleek Laptop Concept with Wildcat Lake Chips, Challenging Apple's MacBook Neo

The release of the first budget MacBook Neo in March 2026 shook the market. A huge number of customers wanted to purchase a somewhat weak, but quality laptop from Apple, and it became clear that other manufacturers would soon offer similar models to customers.

While companies are preparing alternatives to the MacBook Neo, Intel showcased a concept of such a device to advertise its latest chips.

What is known

Intel presented journalists with a prototype reference laptop on WIldcat Lake chips, which are stripped-down versions of Panther Lake chips with weakened video cores, fewer cores, and lower energy consumption.

The company stated that this particular laptop will not be mass-produced, as it is a demonstrative example.

WIldcat Lake chips are specifically designed for thin and light laptops that do not need maximum performance. Like the MacBook Neo, Intel's concept has an aluminum body and a keyboard, which, according to journalists, turned out to be incredibly similar to Apple's budget model.

The showcased device operates on a six-core Intel processor with a thermal package of 17–22 W, which is ideal for laptops without an active cooling system — in such a case, consumption will be limited to 11 W.
