Motorola Razr 70 Ultra launches at $1,499 — premium flip phone with triple 50MP cameras
Motorola's Razr 70 Ultra arrives on 21 May 2026 in the US at $1,499 and around £1,100 in the UK — a $200 jump over the 2025 model. The flip phone runs Snapdragon 8 Elite, packs 16GB of RAM, and lands with a premium design meant to challenge Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip7 on both specs and style.
The phone
The outer display grows to 4 inches with a near-bezel-free look and a 165 Hz refresh rate. The inner flexible screen measures 6.9 inches, also at 165 Hz, with peak brightness of 5,000 nits — one of the highest figures on any phone right now. Motorola calls it Extreme AMOLED.
The camera system is the clearest upgrade. Motorola drops three 50MP sensors into the Razr 70 Ultra: a main shooter, an ultrawide, and a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The selfie camera is also 50MP. Motorola markets the setup as "Triple 50."
The Razr 70 Ultra's outer display curves over the edges, giving the closed phone a near edge-to-edge look.
Battery capacity climbs from 4,700mAh to 5,000mAh — a 6% increase over the Razr 60 Ultra. It's not a dramatic leap, but foldables have historically struggled with battery life, so any gain counts.
The processor is Snapdragon 8 Elite, the same chip found in the best Android flagships from late 2025. Motorola also adds a dedicated Moto AI button, giving quick access to its on-device AI features.
Design and availability
Motorola leans hard into materials here. The Razr 70 Ultra comes in two PANTONE-certified finishes: Cocoa, which uses a real wood texture, and Orient Blue with an Alcantara fabric back. The outer display curves slightly over the edges, giving the closed phone a distinctly premium look.
Two other models launch alongside it: the Razr 70 Plus and the base Razr 70, which now both ship globally rather than being limited to specific markets. European pricing starts at €869 for the base model and €1,400 for the Ultra.
The full lineup goes on sale worldwide from 14 May 2026, with the US date set for 21 May. UK retail availability through major carriers and stores has not yet been confirmed, but the £1,100 price estimate aligns with the European launch pricing per Motorola.
Worth it?
At $1,499, the Razr 70 Ultra is expensive — and the core hardware beyond the camera system is a modest step up from its predecessor. The Snapdragon 8 Elite is powerful, but it's not a next-generation chip exclusive to this phone. The real pitch is the combination of design, camera versatility, and display quality in a flip-phone form factor. Whether that justifies the price over a Galaxy Z Flip7 will depend on how much the look matters to you.
