Dreame AF20: a 6-litre air fryer with titanium coating for $45
Dreame — better known for robot vacuums and hair dryers — has launched the AF20 air fryer in China at 299 Yuan, roughly $45. The 6-litre, 1700W appliance targets families who want a capable, large-capacity fryer without paying the Philips or Ninja premium. No international launch date has been confirmed yet.
The specs
Six litres is enough to roast a whole chicken or cook a generous batch of fries for four or five people. Dreame pairs that capacity with an 11-blade fan and a curved air duct designed to push hot air around the entire cavity in a 360° circulation pattern. The result, in theory, is even cooking without the need to shake the basket every few minutes. The temperature range runs from 40°C to 200°C, covering everything from yoghurt-making and defrosting at the low end to searing at the top.
The interior uses a titanium-ceramic non-stick coating that Dreame claims withstands up to 400°C — a step up from the thin Teflon layers common on cheaper models that tend to flake within months. A transparent window lets you check on food without opening the drawer and losing heat. Controls are handled by a touch panel with eight preset cooking modes, a 60-minute timer, and a keep-warm function that holds temperature for up to 45 minutes after cooking finishes.
The claim vs. the competition
At $45, the AF20 is priced far below entry-level Philips and Ninja models, which typically start at $80–$100 in the US and £70–£90 in the UK. Dreame already sells the Mova AeroChef 6L on Amazon UK, so a broader rollout isn't implausible — but the AF20 specifically remains China-only for now, per Gizmochina.
The titanium-ceramic coating claim is worth a note of caution: it's standard marketing language for value-segment appliances, and no independent lab test has verified real-world scratch resistance or longevity. If and when the AF20 does arrive internationally, expect the retail price to rise once tariffs and logistics are factored in — the $45 figure reflects Chinese domestic pricing only.
Dreame is clearly pushing beyond its vacuum-and-grooming roots. Whether the AF20 makes it to US and UK shelves at a competitive price point is the question worth watching.
