OnePlus has announced the Nord CE 6, a mid-range phone built around a giant battery and a smooth screen, going on sale in India on May 7 at ₹29,999 (~$318). The headline spec is an 8,000 mAh battery — unusually large for this price bracket — with 80W wired charging and 27W reverse wireless charging included. Whether it reaches the US or UK is a separate, unresolved question.

The specs

The Nord CE 6 carries a 6.78-inch AMOLED display running at 144Hz with a 1.5K resolution and a peak brightness of 3,600 nits. For gaming, OnePlus quotes a 3,200Hz touch sampling rate, which means faster input response during fast-paced games. A vapor chamber covering over 33,000 mm² handles heat.

The processor is a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. That's a step down from the CE 5's Dimensity 8350 Apex — AnTuTu benchmarks put the CE 6 at roughly 1.17 million versus 1.47 million for the previous model, per 91mobiles. It's a real trade-off: you get a bigger battery but less raw processing power.

On cameras, the rear unit is a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilisation. The front camera is listed at 16MP with 4K video support. The phone ships with OxygenOS 16 on Android 16, plus AI photo tools including AI Eraser, AI Unblur, and AI Perfect Shot.

Durability certifications are a genuine selling point. The Nord CE 6 carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K water resistance ratings alongside MIL-STD-810H drop and shock certification — coverage that rivals phones costing considerably more, as Notebookcheck notes. It comes in three colours: Fresh Blue, Lunar Pearl, and Pitch Black.

Availability

This is where things get complicated. The India launch is confirmed; everywhere else is not. OnePlus has faced persistent rumours about pulling back from Western markets, and there is currently no announced timeline for the US, UK, or Europe, according to Tech Advisor. If you're in the UK or US and the spec sheet looks appealing, the honest answer is: wait for an official announcement before getting too invested.

At $318 in India, the Nord CE 6 competes on paper with the Samsung Galaxy A56, Motorola Edge 50, and Nothing Phone 3a. The battery size and IP69K rating stand out. The Snapdragon chip step-down is the main reason to pause.
