Team17 and Expression Games have confirmed June 18, 2026 as the release date for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, a standalone spin-off set during the Vietnam War. The standard edition costs £34.99 on Steam — roughly the same price tier as a Call of Duty release — with a Deluxe edition at £54.99. Anyone wanting to try before buying gets a free open beta on Steam from May 29 to June 1.

A new theatre, same tactical DNA

Vietnam carries over the 50v50 format that defined the original Hell Let Loose, but shifts the setting to one of the most under-represented conflicts in modern shooters. Players choose between US forces and the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) across six maps built for up to 100 players per match. The two modes — War (50v50 sector control) and Offensive (one side attacks, the other defends) — will feel familiar to veterans of the WWII original.

New mechanics reflect the specific conflict: NVA players can construct tunnel networks, while US forces get helicopters and patrol boats. The game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and promises overhauled movement, a reworked UI, and a redesigned onboarding system aimed squarely at newcomers. Weapons were developed with input from the Royal Armouries for historical accuracy, and all 17 roles — sniper, commander, tanker, and more — carry over from the base game.

What to know before buying

The digital release hits PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on June 18. Physical console editions follow six weeks later on August 4 — a digital-first strategy that matches where most UK and US players are already buying games. A 10% pre-order discount is live on Steam until launch day.

One caveat worth flagging: there is no crossplay between PC and console at launch, per GfinityEsports. In 2026, that's an unusual call. It means PC and console player pools will be separate, which could affect matchmaking wait times — especially on consoles — in the weeks after release. Expression Games hasn't indicated when or whether crossplay will be added.

Team17 has confirmed it will continue developing the original Hell Let Loose WWII alongside Vietnam, so existing players aren't being abandoned for the new setting.
