Xiaomi patents fast wireless charging technology for foldable smartphones
Recently, smartphone manufacturers have continued to improve charging technology. And among the first to innovate is Xiaomi, which has already increased the wired charging capacity to 200 watts, and wireless charging to 120 watts with its HyperCharge technology. Now the company has started to develop wireless charging for foldable devices.
What it will be
The Chinese technological giant has filed a patent application titled "Wireless charging method and device, electronic equipment with folding screen, storage media. True, it happened back in January, but only now has the patent been issued with publication number CN113098152A and found on CNIPA.
The documentation does not specify the charging features or images of the charger itself, but it does describe how it works. So, the fast wireless charger will be able to charge the gadget both unfolded and folded, and from either side. That is, both halves of the case support charging without a wire.
In addition, the device will first initiate a data exchange with the smartphone to get a supported charging type. This will be useful, for example, to increase the efficiency of the wireless charger and reduce the full charging time.
Keep in mind that this is only a patent for now. But given the growing popularity of foldable smartphones, it's possible that it will still come to life.
