Steam's latest themed festival kicks off May 18, and if you've been meaning to dive into survival classic Subnautica or pick up a pirate game on the cheap, this is a good week to do it. The Steam Ocean Fest runs through May 25, covering games set in oceans, seas, and underwater worlds — with discounts reaching as high as 90%.

The deals

The headliner is Subnautica, down 75% to $7.49. It carries a 97% positive rating across more than 320,000 Steam reviews, making it one of the platform's highest-rated survival games. Sequel Subnautica: Below Zero is also 75% off. Both titles are developed by Unknown Worlds and fully localised for English players — per the Steam Subnautica page, the discount is live now.

Ubisoft's Skull and Bones takes the steepest cut at 90% off, bringing it down to under $3. The pirate action game launched to mixed reviews (Metascore 58), and the outsized discount looks more like inventory clearance than a confidence play. Still, at that price it's a low-risk pickup.

Other notable discounts from the full list:

- Maneater — 85% off - Depth — 75% off - Still Wakes the Deep — 75% off - Stranded Deep — 50% off - Barotrauma — 50% off - Caribbean Legend — 50% off - Stormworks — 40% off - WILL: Follow The Light — 37% off - Darwin's Paradox! — 25% off - The Last Caretaker — 20% off - ALL WILL FALL — 20% off

Worth noting

The timing isn't accidental. Subnautica 2 is expected to launch around this same window, and the discounts on the first two games are likely designed to pull in new players before the sequel arrives. According to GameGrin's Steam event calendar, the festival officially closes on May 25.

All discounts apply globally — there's no regional price difference for US or UK buyers. The sale is live now on Steam.
