The network has details about the Google Whitechapel chip for Pixel 6: 8 cores, 5 nanometers and power at the level of Snapdragon 870

Resource Wccftech has published basic details about the first proprietary Google processor, which is planned to be installed in the Pixel 6.

What we know

As stated in previous leaks, Google is developing Whitechapel (codename) together with engineers from Samsung. The chip will be built on a 5-nanometer process and will have eight cores: two Cortex-A78, two Cortex-A76 and four Cortex-A55. For graphics in new products the video gas pedal ARM Mali-G78 will be responsible. In addition to it SoC will be equipped with a proprietary module for processing of artificial intelligence functions.

That is the task AI Google will emphasize in the processor. As for performance, it will be worse than the current flagship chips Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 888+. The new SoC will be more similar to the Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 870 in terms of power. By the way, thanks to Whitechapel, Google will be able to increase support for its future smartphones up to 5 years.

When to expect

According to the leaks, Whitechapel will debut in Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones this fall.
