Samsung beware! Xiaomi surpasses Apple to become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world

Analytical company Canalys has published a report on the shipments of smartphones in the world for the second quarter of 2021.

In the second quarter of this year, Xiaomi became the second largest smartphone maker in the world, overtaking tech giant Apple. The report said that the Chinese company's shipments rose by as much as 83%. By the way, Xiaomi took this position for the first time in history. For those who do not know, only Samsung and Apple were in the first and second places for a long time. Thus, Xiaomi's market share is now 17%. This is 3% more than Apple.

Canalys analysts  say such significant growth is being driven by low prices. For comparison, Xiaomi devices are on average 40% and 75% lower than those of Samsung and Apple, respectively.

In addition to Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo are also worth paying attention to in the report. In the second quarter of 2021, the companies also showed significant growth in shipments - 28% and 27%, respectively.
