Halo: Campaign Evolved reportedly launches July 28 — and hits PS5 for the first time

Halo: Campaign Evolved is coming to PlayStation 5 this summer, ending 25 years of Xbox exclusivity for the franchise. A Polish insider points to July 28 as the base release date, with five-day early access starting July 23 for a deluxe edition. Official confirmation is expected at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7.

The source

The claim comes from Graczdari, an insider for Polish outlet PPE, who has previously called the release dates for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and Starfield on PS5, as well as the physical edition of Oblivion Remastered. Graczdari puts the price at €59, though no official pricing has been announced. A Korean retailer survey and dataminer data independently point to the same late-July window, lending the claim some additional weight.

The game launches day-and-date on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. On Xbox, it lands day one on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass — PlayStation owners will need to buy it separately. Physical editions are confirmed for PS5 and Xbox; a disc release for PC is considered unlikely.

What's in the game

This is not a straight remaster. Halo Waypoint official describes updated graphics, lighting, and audio alongside actual gameplay changes: new mechanics, a reworked control scheme, weapons from later Halo titles, and three prequel missions that expand the story before the original campaign begins.

Multiplayer is gone entirely. In its place is four-player co-op and two-player split-screen on console — a setup that suits both solo and couch play without the live-service overhead.

Why it matters

Per Wikipedia, this marks the first time any mainline Halo game has appeared on a Sony platform. Microsoft's multiplatform push — Minecraft, Doom, Hi-Fi Rush, and now Halo — looks increasingly permanent. For PS5 owners who never owned an Xbox, this is the first chance to play the game that defined console shooters in the early 2000s.

All pricing and dates remain unconfirmed until June 7. If Graczdari's track record holds, expect the Xbox Games Showcase to make it official.
