Samsung is the leader in the global TV market, thanks largely to its strong influence in the premium segment. Two years ago, the company announced its decision to invest an impressive $ 10.85 billion in the development of QD-OLED TV. Funds cover all aspects of R&D needed to accelerate technology adoption in real devices.

Tests have already begun on the first working prototypes of QD-OLED screens. Barring unexpected difficulties, mass production is expected to begin in the third quarter. One of the drawbacks of Samsung's early prototypes is the low brightness, which is insufficient to meet current industry standards.

The company has different ideas on how to overcome this. It is expected that QD-OLED TV technology will find application in TVs of the most popular classes of devices with screens of 55, 65, 72 and 82 inches. Future Samsung monitors are likely to have QD-OLED screens as well.

The official premiere of QD-OLED TV models is scheduled for the next year. Unsurprisingly, the devices will be showcased at CES 2022 in early January. The new series of hybrid TVs will combine the benefits of OLED displays, which have darker black levels and better contrast, and Quantum Dot filters that improve color quality.

Thus, Samsung will also offer unique QLED TV features in future QD-OLED TVs. Initially, Samsung will focus on developing 55- and 65-inch models. The company will then begin creating TVs with screens over 70 inches and QD-OLED displays.

Next year we will see a lot of new devices with Micro LED screens. It looks like Samsung will rely on several technological innovations to remain the leader on the global TV market in 2022.
