GTA VI preorders go live on June 25, 2026 — Rockstar Games confirmed the date via an official X post that also dropped the game's cover art for the first time. The game launches exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, putting it squarely in the holiday gifting window. No PC release is planned at launch; Rockstar typically delays PC ports by one to two years.

The cover

The art follows series tradition: a nine-square grid of characters and scenes from GTA VI's world. The game is set in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida and Miami's Vice City, and follows Jason and Lucia — a modern Bonnie-and-Clyde pairing that Rockstar has been teasing since the first trailer in late 2023.

The price

Rockstar has not officially confirmed pricing, but May 2026 retail intelligence leaks point to $69.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK for the standard edition — in line with current AAA norms on PS5 and Xbox, per Recharge's UK price guide. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has publicly described the pricing as "fair," pushing back against earlier $100 speculation. Official pricing is expected to be confirmed when preorders open on June 25.

Physical preorders will be available at retailers including Game, Smyths, Amazon UK, Best Buy, and Amazon US. Digital preorders open simultaneously on PlayStation Store and the Xbox digital storefront. No special or collector edition details have been announced yet.

What to expect

Industry analysts estimate GTA VI's development budget at around $2 billion — making it the most expensive game ever made by most counts. Analyst projections suggest up to 45 million copies could sell on launch day alone. Whether those numbers hold, the November 19 date sets up what could be the biggest single-day entertainment release in history. If you want a physical copy, locking in a preorder early is worth considering — retail stock caps during pre-reserve periods have caused shortages on previous major launches.
