Xiaomi's New Power Bank 20000 22.5W Ditches Built-in Cable for Global Market Debut
Xiaomi continues its expansion in the accessories market, preparing the release of a new version of its popular external battery — Power Bank 20000 22.5W. The device has already appeared on the manufacturer's international website, which usually means only one thing: it will soon appear in stores worldwide. Although the price for Europe is not officially confirmed yet, in China it is priced at around $25 (1100 грн), which seems quite reasonable for such an energy capacity.
Interestingly, the global version received one significant difference from its Chinese "brother". In China, this device is sold with a built-in cable, but Xiaomi decided to remove it for the rest of the world. Perhaps it's a concern for the environment, or maybe just a desire to save a few cents on each unit. In any case, buyers will have to look for their own cord in a drawer or buy one separately.
Energy and Ports
The technical content remained unchanged. The battery has a capacity of 20,000mAh (74Wh), allowing you to fully charge a modern smartphone or tablet several times. There are three ports for connection: one bidirectional USB Type-C and two classic USB Type-A. This allows you to charge up to three devices simultaneously, although in this mode you can forget about fast charging — the total power will be distributed among all consumers.
The maximum power of 22.5W seems like the necessary minimum today. While flagships boast support for 45W or even 100W, Xiaomi offers a time-tested standard. This is quite sufficient for iPhones or mid-segment smartphones, but it is clearly insufficient for quickly "recharging" a powerful laptop.

Safety and Ergonomics
The manufacturer did not skimp on the protection system. The device has nine safety levels, including protection against overheating, short circuit, input and output overvoltage, and overcharging. This is important because 20,000mAh is quite a solid amount of energy, which can cause problems in case of malfunction. The case is made of matte plastic, resistant to scratches, although the dimensions of 151 x 72 x 26 mm remind us that this is a serious accessory, not a lightweight toy.
It is also worth mentioning the low current charge mode. It is activated by a double press on the power button and is designed for safe charging of Bluetooth headphones, fitness bracelets, or smart watches. This is a useful feature that protects the batteries of small electronics from rapid degradation.
In the global market, the device will be presented in classic black. While we wait for the novelty to appear in Ukraine, it is worth looking at alternatives, as the market is currently oversaturated. However, Xiaomi's reputation as a reliable accessory manufacturer is likely to play its part, and this Power Bank will find its buyer among those who value proven solutions without unnecessary glamor.
