Palworld 1.0, Gears of War: Reloaded, and Tony Hawk's 1+2 headline Game Pass in July

Xbox Game Pass subscribers are getting three major titles this month: Palworld's full 1.0 release, a remaster of the original Gears of War, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2. The wave spans July 9–21, with more than a dozen games added across Ultimate, Premium, and PC tiers. Ten titles leave the library on July 15, so there's a short window to finish anything on that list.

The headliners

Palworld 1.0 lands on July 10 across PC Game Pass, Game Pass Ultimate, and Game Pass Premium. The survival-crafting game — the one where you build bases and fight alongside Pokémon-style creatures — spent two years in early access. When Palworld first hit Game Pass in January 2024, it became the largest third-party Game Pass launch ever, pulling over 7 million Xbox players. The 1.0 release follows a crossplay update that connects Xbox, PC, and PS5 players in the same sessions.

Gears of War: Reloaded expands to Game Pass Premium on July 9. The remaster of the 2006 original was already available on Ultimate and PC tiers; this broadens access to Premium subscribers.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 arrives July 21 on all premium tiers. The 2020 remake bundled both classic skateboarding games and previously retailed for around £24.49 in the UK — now included in the subscription at no extra cost.

Leaving July 15

Ten games exit the library on July 15. If any of these are on your backlog, you have days to finish them: Stellaris, Powerwash Simulator, Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, Golf With Your Friends, Dungeons of Hinterberg, EA Sports FC 24, Minami Lane, and preview versions of Super Fantasy Kingdom and Techtonica.

The bigger picture

This update drops during a turbulent stretch for Xbox. Microsoft recently announced 3,200 job cuts and the closure of several studios. Game Pass subscriber growth has also stalled in recent years. The July catalog adds solid back-catalog value — Palworld 1.0 and Tony Hawk's 1+2 are genuine draws — but the lineup leans heavily on catalog titles rather than new day-one releases.
