Redmi Note 17 Pro packs a 9,000 mAh battery and a five-year warranty to match
Redmi has officially confirmed the battery, charging, and display specs for the Note 17 Pro ahead of its China launch on July 14. The headline number is a 9,000 mAh Xiaomi Jinshajiang battery — one of the largest in the mid-range segment — paired with an unusually generous five-year battery warranty. No UK or US release date has been announced.
The battery
The 9,000 mAh cell carries a TÜV SÜD five-star certification, per Gizmochina. Wired charging tops out at 67W, and the phone can also push 22.5W back out to other devices via reverse wired charging — useful for topping up earbuds or a smartwatch.
Early buyers get a free five-year battery service plan. If capacity drops below 80% in the first four years, Redmi replaces the battery at no cost. If it dips below 80% in year five, the replacement is a 10,000 mAh unit — larger than the original — subject to the service terms. That kind of warranty is uncommon in Western markets and suggests either real confidence in the cell's longevity or a calculated move to head off criticism about long-term degradation.

The display and durability
The Note 17 Pro uses a flat 1.5K display with 3,500 nits peak brightness, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Drop tests certified by SGS and CQC back a 3-meter marble-floor survival claim — a spec that exceeds what many flagship phones advertise. Redmi's promotional demos also showed the screen surviving hits from a football, coconut shells, and a durian; those stunts are marketing theatre rather than a formal durability standard, so treat them accordingly.
On the waterproofing side, the phone holds IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings simultaneously, plus a TÜV SÜD certification for 2-meter submersion up to 72 hours. That's a deeper and longer water resistance spec than Samsung's Galaxy A55, which manages IP67. Notebookcheck also confirms stereo speakers and a Snapdragon 6-series chip optimised for efficiency.

Availability
The Redmi Note 17 Pro launches in China on July 14. There is no confirmed window for the US or UK. The Redmi Note 15 launched in the UK around £200, so a Pro variant — if it arrives — would likely sit above that. Watch for a global announcement after the China event.
