Ubisoft has confirmed that The Crew Motorfest will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8, 2026 — giving the console its most substantial racing game to date, priced at $49.99 in the US and £44.99 in the UK. The game has pulled in 10 million players across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC since its 2023 debut, so the port carries a proven track record. The catch: it requires a constant internet connection, which blunts the appeal of playing it on the go.

The game

The Crew Motorfest drops players onto a virtual version of O'ahu, Hawaii, where cars, motorcycles, planes, and boats are all fair game. The 2023 original earned an 8/10 from PushSquare, praised for its handling and the sheer variety of its seasonal events, solo career mode, and online playlists. Ubisoft says all content from the original release transfers to the Switch 2 version — nothing is cut.

The Switch 2 angle

Switch 2 has no Forza Horizon equivalent, so Motorfest lands in relatively uncrowded territory. At $49.99, it's mid-tier pricing for a port of a three-year-old game, though the content volume arguably justifies it. Both digital and physical editions will be available; the physical version uses Nintendo's Game Key Card format, which includes the full game on the cartridge.

The always-online requirement is the bigger concern. Switch 2's portable nature makes it a natural commuter device, but Motorfest won't work without a live connection — the same design choice that drew criticism when The Crew's original servers shut down in 2024. Pre-orders are expected to go live at US and UK retailers shortly following the Ubisoft official announcement.

What's next

Motorfest is one of six or more Switch 2 ports Ubisoft has lined up, with The Division and Rainbow Six also in the pipeline. If the studio's broader Switch 2 push goes well, more mature open-world titles could follow through 2027. For now, October 8 is the date to mark.
