Xiaomi's Mijia Smart Tea Bar Pro brews in 15 seconds — but good luck buying one

Xiaomi has unveiled the Mijia Smart Tea Bar Pro, a countertop tea station that promises hot water in three seconds and a full boil in 15 — specs that put most electric kettles to shame. The device goes on crowdfunding via Xiaomi Youpin on July 20 at 1,099 yuan (roughly $151 / £120). The catch: Youpin is a China-only platform, and there's no confirmed Western retail date.

The dual-circuit design

The headline feature is a dual-circuit water system borrowed from coffee machine engineering. One circuit handles instant delivery — hot water flows within three seconds for a quick cup. The second circuit is dedicated to auto-brewing, heating water to a rolling boil in about 15 seconds. Five temperature presets let you dial in the right heat for green, white, oolong, or black tea, since delicate leaves don't fare well in boiling water. Four portion sizes round out the controls, covering everything from a small gaiwan to a large mug.

A 2.8-inch color touchscreen handles most settings, and Xiaomi's Xiao Ai voice assistant works hands-free. The 5.5-liter reservoir is large enough for an office or a big household without constant refills. The kit includes a 1.2-liter main teapot, a shared teapot for group use, a sterilization module to keep internals clean, and a 10-liter accessory drawer for cups and loose-leaf supplies. The whole unit comes in Xiaomi's familiar white minimalist shell.

Specs on paper vs. reality at the shelf

At ~$151, this undercuts entry-level Breville tea and kettle systems, which typically start above $200 in the US and UK. The specs — voice control, precise temperature modes, self-sterilization — are genuinely competitive for the price tier, and per market research the smart tea bar machine segment is growing at roughly 19% annually.

The problem is availability. Youpin operates as a crowdfunding and lifestyle retail platform inside China; it has no direct purchase option for US or UK buyers. Intermediary importers on AliExpress or Geekbuying can sometimes source Youpin products, but that route comes with no manufacturer warranty and unpredictable shipping timelines. Xiaomi has not announced a Western launch, a mi.com/us listing, or a retail partnership with Currys, Best Buy, or Amazon US.

Worth watching

The Mijia Smart Tea Bar Pro is an interesting product that applies coffee machine thinking to tea — a category that has seen little hardware innovation outside specialist brands like Wilfa or Breville. If Xiaomi pushes this into Western markets later in 2026, the price point and feature set would make it worth a serious look. For now, US and UK buyers are on the outside looking in.
