Spider-Man: Brand New Day gets a final trailer — and a free PS5 suit to match

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has a final trailer, and the film hits theaters on July 31. Sony dropped the two-minute-plus clip on July 21, less than two weeks before the PG-13 film's theatrical debut — and the first trailer already racked up 1.1 billion views in four days, making this one of the most-anticipated summer releases in years.

The story so far

Director Destin Daniel Cretton — best known for Shang-Chi — takes Peter Parker somewhere the MCU hasn't gone before: complete anonymity. After Dr. Strange's memory-wiping spell, all of New York has forgotten that Spider-Man is Peter Parker. That includes MJ, with Zendaya back in the role and apparently just as confused as everyone else. Peter is back to being a street-level hero, fighting crime without a Stark-engineered suit or a public identity to protect.

The final trailer leans into that emotional isolation while delivering plenty of action. Jon Bernthal returns as the Punisher — now apparently an uneasy ally — alongside Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Michael Mando as Scorpion. The main antagonists are members of the Hand, the ninja crime syndicate familiar from the wider Marvel universe. The runtime clocks in at 2 hours 25 minutes.

The game tie-in

If you own Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PS5 or PC, there's a free bonus ahead of the film. Insomniac Games is adding the Fresh Start Suit — Peter's costume from Brand New Day — as a free DLC on July 28, three days before the movie opens. It's cosmetic only, but it's a neat way to build hype if you've been replaying the game ahead of the premiere.

When and where

Brand New Day opens in US theaters on July 31, with advanced tickets already on sale at AMC and other major chains. IMAX and Dolby Cinema formats are available nationwide. UK audiences get the same July 31 date. The Fresh Start Suit DLC lands July 28 on PS5 and PC — no purchase required, just download and equip.
