EA has released the first gameplay trailer for EA Sports FC 27, confirming Kylian Mbappé as cover athlete and a September 25, 2026 release date across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and both generations of Nintendo Switch. The trailer marks Mbappé's return to the franchise cover for the first time since FIFA 23 — his fourth appearance overall. More gameplay detail arrives from July 29, when EA begins weekly content reveals.

The look

The trailer shows matches across large stadiums, smaller pitches, and training facilities. EA's standard list of improvements is present: sharper graphics, more realistic player movement, refined animations, more responsive controls, and an updated Career Mode. Specifics on what actually changes versus FC 26 are thin for now — the July 29 deep-dives are where the real detail should land.

The editions

Three versions are available to pre-order now. The Standard Edition costs $69.99 / £69.99. The Ultimate Edition runs $99.99 / £99.99 and includes 7-day early access (meaning September 18 play), between 6,000 and 10,000 FC Points, and premium season pass content. EA Play subscribers get an additional 10% off digital purchases.

The headline is the new Ultimate Plus Edition at $149.99 / £149.99 — the most expensive release in the franchise's history, per Insider Gaming. It stacks extra in-game currency, exclusive Ultimate Team content, and premium season passes on top of the Ultimate bundle. The catch: it's digital-only and disappears on August 31. That deadline is the main reason to decide early.

For context, Standard Edition pricing holds level with FC 26 despite GTA 6 pushing the AAA baseline to $80 on some titles. Whether the Ultimate Plus tier justifies a $150 outlay depends largely on how much you use FC Points — if you play Ultimate Team heavily, the included currency narrows the gap; if you don't, the Standard Edition is the sensible pick.

What's next

Physical copies are expected at major UK retailers including Asda, Sainsbury's, and Tesco. Digital pre-orders are live on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA App. The August 31 Ultimate Plus deadline is the only hard decision point before the September 25 launch, as GamsGo's pricing breakdown confirms no pricing changes are expected between now and release.
